Summary

Relationships, sex, sexual health and puberty are part of the PSHE curriculum so it is important to check the resources listed under PSHE. The resources below are offered by organisations dedicated to children and young people's health and wellbeing.

Information

Anti-bullying from The Diana Award

The Diana Award Anti-Bullying Campaign engages young people, parents and teachers to change the attitudes, behaviour and culture of bullying by building skills and confidence to address different situations both online and offline. The resources are fantastic, beautifully produced and simply require a request for the download. Select Diversity and Inclusion from the list of topics for a range of resources on LGBTQ+; Understanding Gender; Homophobic and Biphobic Bullying, and more. Uses videos, guides, activities, presentations and lesson plans. Excellent for either classroom or home use.

Domestic abuse: The Hide Out

This has information, advice and support for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse at home. It has online videos to support understanding of what domestic abuse is. It is very useful as a learning resource.

Friends, relationships and sex

Excellent coverage and information for young people.

Gendered Intelligence

This is packed with information and resources for young people, families and educators on understanding gender diversity. Excellent.

HIV and AIDS

Avert is an international HIV and AIDS charity based in the UK. It has excellent information for teens on Sex & Relationships; Puberty; Birth Control; Safer Sex and more. The resources can be used with upper KS3 and KS4, however they are not designed especially for young people so educators and parents should judge whether they are suitable for their intended young people.

NSPCC: sex and relationships

This provides advice and information on how to talk to young people about sex, sexuality and relationships. It covers Gender Identity; Sexuality and Sexual Orientation; Sexual Behaviour; and Healthy Relationships.

Use https://learning.nspcc.org.uk/safeguarding-child-protection-schools for a wealth of excellent downloadable teaching resources and lesson plans for children from 10–16 years on personal safety and healthy relationships. It covers consent, sexualised behaviour and unhealthy relationships. All resources are PSHE Association quality assured.
