Summary
Whatever is omnipresent, easily becomes invisible. When asked to describe the features of a printed page, one would pay attention to the composition of the text, the quality of paper, the type of fonts used, or even a small tea stain in the lower right corner; one would probably not mention, however, that the page is white. This is not surprising: we rarely use paper of a different color for printing.
