Excellentissimo in Christo principi et domino nostro Domino Henrico, Dei gratia regi Angliae et Franciae illustri et domino Hiberniae vestri capellani et oratores, capitulum ecclesiae vestrae Eboracensis sede archiepiscopali ac decanatu eiusdem vacantibus feliciter regnare et in eo cui servire regnans est felicius triumphare, breve vestrum regium recepimus in haec verba:

Henricus, Dei gratia rex Angliae et Franciae et dominus Hiberniae custodi spiritualitatis archiepiscopatus Eboracensis sede vacante, salutem. Quibusdam arduis et urgentibus negotiis nos et statum regni nostri ac honorem et utilitatem Ecclesiae Anglicanae intime concementibus, vobis in fide et dilectione quibus nobis tenemini rogando mandamus quatenus praemissis debito intuitu attentis et ponderatis, universos et singulos episcopos Eboracensis provinciae ac decanos et priores ecclesiarum cathedralium, abbates et priores et alios electivos, exemptos et non exemptos, necnon archidiaconos, capitula, conventus et collegia, totumque clerum cuiusdem dioecesis eiusdem provinciae ad comparendum coram vobis in ecclesia cathedrali Beati Petri Eboracensis vel alibi prout melius expedire videritis, citra primum diem Maii proxime futurum [1 May 1406] more solito convocari faciatis, ad tractandum, concordandum, consentiendum et concludendum super praemissis et aliis quae sibi clarius exponentur tune ibidem ex parte nostra, et hoc sicut nos et statum dicti regni nostri ac honorem et utilitatem ecclesiae praedictae diligitis nullatenus omittatis. Teste me ipso apud Westmonasterium decimo nono die Martii anno regni nostri septimo [19 March 1406].

Cuius quidem brevis contemplatione praelatos et clerum provinciae praedictae Eboracensis ad duodecimum diem mensis Iulii cum continuatione et prorogatione dierum sequentium anno Domini MCCCCmo sexto [12 July 1406] in ecclesia Eboracensi supradicta debitis formis convocari, quibus comparentibus, brevi supradicto integraliter perlecto, causisque ecclesiae defensionem, regni necessitatem, relevationem et salvationem concementibus coram ipsis plenissime allegatis, ostensis et declaratis, tandem ex causis praedictis praelati et clerus Eboracensis provinciae in praesenti convocatione congregati, concorditer regi hac vice pro defensione regni et Ecclesiae Anglicanae unam decimam de omnibus beneficiis ecclesiasticis et de temporalibus spiritualibus annexis, taxatis secundum novam taxam in partibus usitatam, et de dignitatibus, praebendis, beneficiis parochialibus curatis non taxatis, secundum aestimationem duarum partium valoris earundem.
