Summary
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is common, both in the community and in the clinic. Nevertheless, this condition has had an uphill battle to be recognized, and the diagnosis remains controversial. In accord with the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11; World Health Organization (WHO), 2019), the title of this chapter uses its term: a borderline pattern. However, I will make the reader’s life easier by referring to BPD.
