By a process of consensus following a comprehensive round of discussion, the Editorial Board of Acta Numerica (which consists currently of fifteen internationally distinguished computational mathematicians chosen to represent the rich diversity of the discipline), authors are invited to write an extended research review/survey of a particular topic. 

During the writing process, there is opportunity for a direct collaboration between authors and editors, in which all identities are visible. No review information is published. 

Once accepted for publication by the Editor in Chief, reviews undergo a rigorous editing process.
