Summary

In this abridged autobiography, I ask if I was born in the twenty-first century instead of 1935, how would my educational and professional life have differed from my actual experiences? That is, I consider some environmental conditions that influenced my life course. I also briefly examine a major research shift in my career that was not caused by environmental changes. I proceed in a life-span temporal sequence.
