Summary

Articles to be inquired of in the visitation of the bishoprike of Landaffe.

1. Whether doth your minister usually preach and catechize the youth and ignorant persons in your parish, or otherwise reade homelies, and have you prayers duly said in your churches on Sundayes and holy dayes: as likewise on Wednesdayes, and Fridayes, and evening prayers on Saturdayes: and how oft hath your minister beene negligent herein?

2. Whether doth your minister use, or hath hee refused to visite the sick in your parish, to pray with them, or to minister the Lords supper unto them, and hath he refused or neglected to bury the dead, or to baptize any infant in your parish, being in danger, having beene duly informed of the weaknesse of the said infant?

3. Whether is your minister a man of good fame, of an honest and sober conversation, and doth he not imploy himselfe in worldly matters, which may hinder him in his profession, or disgrace his ministery?

4. Whether is your chancell, parsonage or vicarage-house, and other building thereunto belonging be in good reparation: and is your church or chappell every way well and sufficiently repayred, and is your church yard well fenced and kept cleane, your bels and all things appertaining unto them kept in due reparation?

5. Whether hath you in your church or chappell, the holy bible, the booke of common prayer, the booke of homilies, a font [of] stone, a decent communion table, with a seemely carpet, and clothes of fine linnen, to cover the same at communion time, and is the table of consanguinity set up in your church, and have you one parchment register booke, provided for christnings, marriages and burials, and is the same duly kept and used?

6. Whether have you a convenient seat for your minister to reade service in, a comely pulpet, with a decent cloth or cushion for the same: a comely large surplisse, a faire communion cup of gold, silver, or other pure mettali, with a cover agreeable for the same: and all other ornaments, necessary for the celebration of divine service, and administration of the sacraments?
