Summary

[On visitation, 28 August 1605].

After dynner betweene 2 et 3 hora a meridie, dominus episcopus in domo cathedrale.

The lord bishop upon private conference with the clergy of this deanery: desired Them

1. That what they in due regard of well doing think good to acquaynt his lordship withall, that they deliver yt to his lordships owne hande, and his lordship promised none of them should dare be called in question for the same.

2. That they name the most sufficient men to be church wardens and side men etc and my lord will take order they shall not serve by deputies.

3. That the clergy will preferre to his lordship to be confirmed onely such as are able to geve account of their faith etc, and such as they will answere for etc.

My lord bishop did constitute Mr Childe vicar of Arlingham deane rurall of this deanery. And impost that office upon him, which office he at my lords instance did accept of.
