Summary

I have attempted to enlarge this section, given the importance of Chrétien's language for editing, interpretation, and reception. There have been very few studies devoted solely to his works, and even in these cases evidence has been drawn by and large from the CFMA edition or its base manuscript, BNF fr. 794, despite the controversy about this manuscript (see Bb). Included here are not only publications that emphasize Chrétien, but also those that use evidence from his works along with others. The scholar must in all cases check the edition and/or manuscript that is the source of evidence. Works in Ke may also belong more properly in a separate section under U. Kf has been added. There are fewer cross-references to BBSIA, where this topic is under-represented.
