Before we enter upon the Meditation of the very Act of His Coming, it is necessary that we consider the Greatness of the Gift : Who He is.

Who He is that giveth Him.

To Whom He is given.

For what Motivs, Purposes and Ends.

The Greatness of the Gift is such, that it bringeth home to our Souls all that our Savior hath don and Suffered for us, from His Incarnation to His Ascention.

The Gift therfore is the Gift of Gifts.

For it is the Gift of God ; God HIMSELF.

God Himself is the Gift, as God Himself is the Giver.

The Spirit is Eternal, and so is none but God.

He is Evry where, and so is none but God.

He knoweth all Things, so doth none but God

He searcheth all Things, and so doth none but God.

He hath the Name of God : The Attributs of God : And doth the Works of God.

He is our Creator. The Spirit of God hath made me saith Job. cap. 33.4.

He can change the Whole frame of Nature in Doing Miracles.

For He led the Israelites Miraculously thorow the Wilderness. Isa. 63.14.

The Calling and Sending of His Prophets shew Him to be God.

The Lord God and His Spirit hath sent me, saith Isaiah. Cap. 48.16.

Nay He sent Christ Himself : An Irrefragable Argument of His Godhead.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me :

He hath Anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor :

He hath sent me to Heal the Broken hearted :

To preach Deliverance to the Captivs :

And recovering of Sight to the Blind. Luk. 4.18.

He foretelleth future Things. for saith S. Peter The H. Ghost by the Mouth of David spake. Act. 1.18.

He Establisheth Things present.

The Spirit of Truth Guideth into all Truth.

He ruleth in the Hearts of His Chosen.

He doth all this by ways proper to God.

For the Inward Illumination of our Understanding is His.

He shall receiv of mine, saith Christ, and shall Shew it to you.
