‘These pardons foluyng ar wretyn in a table at rome in a chirche of our lady callyd ara celi’. List of nine pardons, beginning with the indulgence for saying the name of Jesus at the end of the Ave Maria. The church called Ara Celi (altar of heaven) is mentioned in the ‘Pardon of all the Churches of Rome’, translated from a Liber Indulgentiarum, which occurs in some manuscripts of the Gilte Legende.

Other texts: Ff.6.33 [3]. For other copies of the indulgence for saying the name of Jesus at the end of the Ave see Dd.12.69 [3] where it forms part of the Sacerdos Parochialis; and Dd.14.26 [A26], also with the Speculum Christiani.

s. xv. LALME I:67 notes that the MS is in one hand, that of Robert Wasselyn, capellanus, and localizes the language to Lincolnshire, LP 901.
