Walter Hilton, Scale of Perfection, Book 1 only. No title or heading in this MS. Preceded by a table of contents on ff. 1–3v which begins ‘capitulum i þat þe inner hauyng of man sulde be lyke to þe utter’ and ends f. 3v: ‘capitulum lxxxxiiij here it is telled þe cause qwy þis boke was made and how scho sal hafe hir in þe redeyng þat it is made to.’ Chapters have rubric headings and are numbered i to lxxxviii, the latter corresponding to that given for 90 in the table of contents (79 and 87 of the index being omitted). IPMEP 255; Wells Rev. 9:3430–3 [29].
