To temper byysse put a iiij d wurth or vj in a horn and take gum water metely stronge and put hit in a lytyll quantite to the bysse not to much for drownyng and pallyng of the byysse but take y nowgh to temper hit and temper this water and byysse togedyr a quarter of an owre or þerbowte …
… wiþ a lytyll temperyng and so lete hit stonde half a day and then after that pore owt the water agayn and the stone etcetera.
